Jersey Boys: Broadway Musical About Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, With Mark Ballas (DWTS)

Buy Tickets $49 - $89 $75 - $105

"Oh, What a Night" you'll have at this show -- featuring Mark Ballas from Dancing with the Stars as Frankie Valli -- that takes you behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. The Tony- and Grammy-winning true-life musical phenomenon Jersey Boys follows the rags-to-rock-to-riches tale of four guys from Jersey who work their way up from the streets of Newark to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, selling 175 million records worldwide before the age of 30. Although Valli and his cohorts -- Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi -- are famed for their legendary harmonies, things didn't always go so smoothly between them off the stage. Sing, hum, rock and reminisce to the groundbreaking group's hit songs "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man," "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)" at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

Join virtuoso jazz bassist Christian McBride and rising star vocalist Tiffany Austin for a night of great jazz to benefit KJazz 88.1 FM. Over his three-decade career, four-time Grammy winner McBride has collaborated with jazz giants like Sonny Rollins and Herbie Hancock, as well as stars from across genres, including James Brown and Sting. But McBride's chops really come through in a small jazz group, and his New Jawn Quartet is sure to swing when they hit the stage at beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Opening the show is up-and-coming vocalist Tiffany Austin. Her debut album, Nothing But Soul, paid tribute to songwriter Hoagy Carmichael, and received a four-star review from DownBeat magazine, while NPR called her "a singer to keep an ear on."

The Inequality of Economics in Almost Equal To

Buy Tickets $12.50 $25

How much do your earn? How much are you worth? With the economic world built on hierarchies where CEOs make a hundred times the salary of their workers, Almost Equal To exposes the inequality in highly personal terms. A young immigrant tries to find a job; a professor of economics struggles to keep the job he has; a wife nurses fantasies of an ecologically responsible life; a homeless hustler may be more than he seems; and a young woman in a cutthroat office may or may not be responsible for a co-worker's death. With humor and brutal honesty, celebrated Swedish novelist-playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri reveals the human cost of the system. Over one hundred international companies have performed Khemiri's plays, now coming to Santa Monica's City Garage at Bergamot Station Arts Center.

You can't face the future until you have faced your past -- that's the lesson of Southern gothic tragicomedy Crimes of the Heart, which won the Pulitzer Prize for its tale of the quirky Magrath sisters and the sordid deeds they must reconcile. Holed up at their granddaddy's house in Mississippi, the motherless trio have a knack for dysfunction, with the latest fiasco involving youngest sister Babe's shooting of her abusive husband. Meanwhile, eldest sister Lenny's horse was just struck by lightning and middle sister Meg has suffered a nervous breakdown after seeing her dreams of a singing career dashed. More than 30 years after the acclaimed film adaptation, the stage version of Crimes of the Heart is as potent, touching and hilarious as ever. Comedy Dead Man's Cell Phone Tackles Love & Death in the Digital Age

Buy Tickets $10 - $12 $20 - $24

The phrase "dead ringer" takes on a whole new meaning in Dead Man's Cell Phone, the imaginative romantic comedy from Pulitzer finalist Sarah Ruhl. An incessantly ringing phone chips away at the peaceful ambiance in an otherwise quiet café until Jean, the woman sitting at the next table, has had enough and gets up to intervene. Shocked to discover that the phone's owner is dead, she answers the call herself -- and soon finds herself dating the dead man's brother, sharing cosmopolitans with his widow and meeting his mistress for a mysterious rendezvous. Jean's odd odyssey leads her to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption and the need to connect in a world obsessed with technology. Long Beach Playhouse presents this insightful work about how society memorializes the dead -- on their Studio Theatre stage.

Six Characters in Search of an Author: Absurdist Dramedy Blurs Truth & Illusion

Buy Tickets $14 $28

Six Characters in Search of an Author is Luigi Pirandello's quintessential story of the fine line between the characters in a play and the actors who portray them. This satirical tragicomedy opens on a theater company's rehearsal, which is interrupted when six fictional characters show up looking for an author to present their stories. The lines between reality and fiction become blurred as the characters interact with the "real people" in this play within a play (... sort of). The actors of the original play become the audience for the characters, entering into a theatrical hall of mirrors, where the stage becomes more real than the world itself. Whether you're a theater person or simply a lover of theater, you'll adore the barbed humor in this modernist masterpiece at Archway Theatre.
