Linda Vista: A Coming-of-(Middle)-Age Play by Tracy Letts

Buy Tickets $20 - $99 $99

Wheeler just turned 50. His marriage is over, his job is mundane, and the best years of his life appear to be behind him. A move from the cot in his ex-wife's garage to his own apartment opens up new possibilities for love and sex -- complicated, painful and hilarious. Full of opinions, yet short on self-examination, Wheeler must reconcile the man he has become with the man he wants to be in this major new play from the writer of August: Osage County. In this Steppenwolf Theatre Company production, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Tracy Letts delivers a "male midlife crisis tragicomedy of epic proportions" (Chicago Sun Times) in this "smart, very funny, hugely entertaining play" (Daily Herald) that resonates with a new sense of sobriety in the wake of #MeToo. Coming to the stage in 2019 at the Mark Taper Forum.

Tony-Winning Musical Brings History to Life

Buy Tickets $15 - $39 $32 - $66

If Hamilton's mix of hummable tunes and fascinating history has left you itching to learn more about our nation's founding, then this Tony-winning Revolutionary musical drama just might be the ticket. 1776 takes you behind the scenes of the historic signing of the Declaration of Independence, as John Adams tried to persuade his fellow forefathers to vote for freedom from British rule. Also making appearances are colonial superstars like Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock and Abigail Adams, along with a variety of crabby drunks, befuddled secretaries and assorted sycophants who also populate the proceedings. Pairing a funny, insightful story with a striking score, 1776 is a triumphant celebration of the American spirit that'll stir romance, comedy and conflict into a musical melting pot at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The Magpie Salute Feat. Members of Black Crowes

Buy Tickets $19 $33

The Magpie Salute represents a musical union of swaggering rock 'n' roll, psychedelic blues and campfire-worthy storytelling. It got its wings from Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson, who brought together a bunch of former bandmates from the Crowes and elsewhere to create the new supergroup. Drawing inspiration from R&B, country and spirituals, including artists like Sly Stone and Neil Young, they create a vast musical landscape which, at its core, is pure rock 'n' roll. The band's name comes from a British superstition of saluting a magpie to ward off negativity, a way for the band to acknowledge both the good fortune and hardships that have given the group its sound. Following a string of sold-out performances, The Magpie Salute shakes the roof off The Canyon in Agoura Hills.

Arsenio Hall (The Arsenio Hall Show) Returns to Stand-Up

Buy Tickets $14 $25

If you ask different people where they first saw Arsenio Hall you’d probably get a number of different answers. But it was the success of his Emmy Award-winning late-night talk show The Arsenio Hall Show that made Arsenio a household name. The versatile actor-comedian and producer first became involved in the arts at The Cleveland Playhouse and continued to hone his craft through his Kent State University years. In 1979 Hall moved from Ohio to Chicago, Illinois where he tried his hand at stand-up comedy and was discovered by jazz singer Nancy Wilson. In the following few years, Arsenio opened for twenty major headliners including Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Stevie Wonder. A short time later, Arsenio attempted to diversify his career by making numerous appearances on television shows such as Solid Gold and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and doing his first film cameo in Amazon Women on the Moon. On the strength of his work as an interim host on The Late Show, he was signed to a film and television deal with Paramount Pictures which subsequently led to the opportunity to co-write and co-star in the hit Coming to America. Now you can see his return to stand-up at Levity Live Comedy Club in Oxnard.

In honor of the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's The Wall, Rock on Film Series presents a salute to the singers, writers and musicians who have created the poetry of our time at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Pink Floyd - The Wall is a 1982 British live-action/animated musical drama film directed by Alan Parker with animated segments by political cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, and is based on the 1979 Pink Floyd album of the same name. The film centers around a confined rocker named Pink, who, after being driven into insanity by the death of his father and many depressive moments during his lifetime, constructs a metaphorical (and sometimes physical) wall to be protected from the world and emotional situations around him. When this coping mechanism backfires, he puts himself on trial and sets himself free. The screenplay was written by Pink Floyd vocalist and bassist Roger Waters.

Following a string of sold-out performances, The Magpie Salute shakes the roof off The Canyon in Santa Clarita.

French electronic musician Franck Rivoire, known by his stage name Danger, is coming to The El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. With a rich musical history that began in boyhood, Rivoire’s sound is heavily influenced by the computers he spent a lot of time in front of as a child. His 2017 album Taiko, which marked his 10th anniversary as a performer, is a hybrid of Eastern and Western music that fuses ’80s retro with more contemporary electronic sounds. He has said that the album is filled with nods to childhood feelings and emotions. But you won’t see him wearing his heart on his sleeve: One of his trademarks is the black mask that he wears in nearly all public appearances, inspired by the band Daft Punk and the Black Mage character from the video game series Final Fantasy See this unique performer live in L.A. this winter as part of his North American tour.

This is Rod Serling’s Stories From The Zone -- stage adaptations of two classic episodes of his best-loved TV series. You’ll be traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination…. In Mr. Garrity and the Graves, in the Old West circa 1890, a man and his wagon find their way into the town of Happiness, Arizona. The man, Garrity, claims to have the ability to resurrect the dead. Some of the townspeople figure that resurrecting the folks planted on Boot Hill might not be the best idea. In Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?, passengers of a snow-bound bus originally bound for Boston are stranded at a roadside diner. There’s a growing realization that one of their number might actually be an invader from Mars.

Paradise: Faith and Science Collide

Buy Tickets $15 - $17.50 $35

From executive producers Viola Davis and Julius Tennon, Paradise follows the story of an inner city Yemeni-American Muslim high school senior, and her culturally naïve science teacher, a former Columbia neuroscientist -- and atheist -- who had a fall from grace and is forced to teach in the public schools. The play explores their growing relationship as he helps her, if at first reluctantly, gain admission to a competitive college science program. It asks provocative questions about the often-conflicting issues of love, faith, science and culture, and wonders: can we find Paradise here on this earth? See it at L.A.'s Odyssey Theatre.

Disguising herself as a boy, she joins Duke Orsino's court, where she's sent as his emissary to the Countess Olivia, who's mourning the death of her brother. Olivia falls for "the young lad." Mistaken identity, gender confusion, a mordant clown, a pompous major domo, whackadoodle relatives — it all adds up to a great deal of fun! Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s classically elegant Violin Concerto No. 5, Turkish, earned its nickname due to a suddenly “exotic” sounding interjection in the final movement. Award-winning violinist Karen Gomyo makes her New West Symphony debut with this most popular of Mozart’s violin concertos. Ludwig van Beethoven’s propulsive and exuberant 7th Symphony brims with joyful, dance-like movements and rhythmic vitality. Richard Wagner called it the “apotheosis of dance.” Beethoven himself called it “one of the happiest products of my poor talents.” A New West Symphony commissioned work from Jeff Beal will receive its world premiere during Rhythmic Traditions at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Food is more than just a way to stave off hunger -- it's a cultural experience. Curious foods from exotic cultures have always fascinated us, and sharing those foods with others is the best way to cross those cultural boundaries. But different cultures in different places have different views of what's tasty and what's gross, what's edible and what's inedible. The Disgusting Food Museum invites visitors to consider those distinctions and challenge their own dietary preferences while viewing, smelling and tasting some unique foods from around the world, including casu marzu (maggot-infested cheese from Sardinia), hákarl (well-aged Icelandic shark) and surströmming (Swedish fermented herring). Do you dare smell the world’s stinkiest cheese? Or taste sweets made with metal cleansing chemicals? Test your intestinal fortitude at this tribute to culinary curiosities at A+D Museum in Los Angeles.

Now, Mathews is leaving the small screen behind to host the Dragtastic Bubbly Brunch at Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Angeles. As Mathews himself describes it, "I make a living judging drag queens, and now I want to give back by putting them to work, using champagne to lure in my favorite queens." But the fierce and fabulous queens hitting the stage -- many of whom are veterans of RuPaul's Drag Race -- aren't the only ones sipping champagne: Every guest gets a mimosa the second they walk in the door, along with the chance to compete against other guests for another free cocktail with the "lip sync for a drink" activity, based on RuPaul's "lip sync for your life" challenge.

Opening Night: The Improvised Musical

Opening Night: The Improvised Musical is exactly that -- a Broadway-style musical that's made up on the spot, based on a single audience suggestion. Therefore, every night is the opening night of a musical that's never been seen. Sadly, it's also the closing night ... but closing night sounds so very final -- and not even this cast can withstand the damage done by weekly wrap parties. Since 1998, Opening Night's cast of veteran improvisers has combined Chicago and Los Angeles improv with the Broadway stylings of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Gilbert & Sullivan, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, resulting in over 1,000 original musicals. Marvel as they score and choreograph a show right in front of your eyes at the Second City Studio Theatre in Los Angeles.
