Buy Tickets $20 $49 - $50

Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas, Mozart and Mahler make for a sure-to-be blockbuster show from the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Hall. Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard joins the festivities on Thanksgiving weekend for a performance of Mahler's magical Symphony No. 4, which melodiously recalls the composer's childhood. Mahler himself conducted the premiere in Munich in 1901. MTT and the SFS are set to kick off the concert with a pair of works by Mozart, German Dances and Exsultate, jubilate, a motet originally composed for a castrato -- and since sung by a soprano.

Buy Tickets $18 - $51 $30 - $85

A New York Times and a Time Out New York Critics' Pick, Bess Wohl's life-affirming one-act has an awful lot to say about human connection, as seen through six urbanites gathered for a silent yoga retreat in the woods. Small Mouth Sounds tracks these strangers' valiant attempts at non-verbal communication, in a show the Times calls "as funny as it is quietly moving" as well as "a model of ingenuity." This production at San Francisco's A.C.T. Strand Theater is directed by Obie Award-winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812).

Classic Tragi-Comedy The Changeling

Buy Tickets Sold Out n/a

The answer to any sticky situation or messy love triangle is, of course, murder -- if you want to take the classic Jacobean approach. And that's definitely the kind of twisted problem-solving that permeates Thomas Middleton's and William Rowley's The Changeling, a tragi-comedy that overflows with dark twists and turns, gory violence and kinky sex. With three men vying for her heart, Beatrice-Joana hatches a devious murder plot to get the man she desires. Meanwhile, the chief of a mental asylum locks his young wife in a cell to prevent infidelity -- however, the bars aren't strong enough to stop two determined suitors. Rich with lust, murder and madness, the story itself remains relevant after nearly 400 years for its exploration of love, treachery and the lengths some will go to get what they want. Don't miss The Changeling at The Rueff at A.C.T's Strand Theater in San Francisco.

Kate needs to find some balance in her life. She grew up "poor" and thinks her husband is "rich" --These air quotes indicate just how subjective the two terms can be in the grand scheme of things. This one-woman show from Kate Robards straddles two different extremes of life as she tries to understand just exactly what it is that money can and can't buy. Montreal Theatre Hub's Anya Leibovitch calls Ain't That Rich "a winning comedy on money, class, and identity." Meet Red and Marion, two southern women as different as they could be, yet bonded by a shared sense of abandonment. For the elegant Marion, it's her no-good judge husband, who has left her for a younger woman and won't even return her calls. For the down-to-earth Red, it's the passing of her mother, who died three years previously while living in a neglectful nursing home. Fueled by a few martinis, these two strong-willed ladies find both humor and malice in their respective situations, as they come together and discover their commonality in a sweet reflection on love and loss at Phoenix Theatre Annex in San Francisco.

The Tenors Sing New Holiday Album

Buy Tickets $54.50 $67.49

Imagine the earworm melodies of a pop hit sung with the so-beautiful-you-could-cry harmonies of a piece of sacred choral music by Handel (you know, the "Hallelujah!" guy). That's the enchanting blend you get from The Tenors, three guys with some serious pipes -- and the multiplatinum album sales to prove it. But they've also got some serious diva cred: they've performed on Oprah -- with Celine Dion, no less -- and for the Queen of England at her Diamond Jubilee. And their male fans aren't too shabby, either -- Paul McCartney? Neil Young? They've sung a harmony or two together. They've brought the warm-and-fuzzy with a previous holiday album, The Perfect Gift, and now they're back for round two with Christmas Together, a mix of seasonal favorites and original songs. Get in the spirit as The Tenors come to Herbst Theatre at the San Francisco War Memorial Building for this concert.

Originally written as a novel in 1949 and adapted for the stage by Caroline Francke in 1951, this story is insanely relatable, and has been seen on the big screen multiple times (once with Spencer Tracy as the titular father and later starring Steve Martin). Instead of throwing in the towel, he responded to his failure by declaring himself "Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico." San Francisco embraced this quirky character, treating him as royalty and even accepting his self-created currency. Tour guide Joseph Amster incorporates his journalistic and acting talents to provide a one-of-a-kind tour in which he takes on the persona of Emperor Norton and introduces you to the history of the city's most unique and interesting sites through the eyes of this larger-than-life unofficial mascot. Over the course of just under three hours, you'll cover about two miles along the waterfront, from the historic Ferry Building to The Cannery.

Sonoma Laugh & Lovefest is a comedy weekend featuring comedians from Los Angeles, Seattle, the Bay Area and London for two nights of stand-up and sketch comedy at The NDNU Theatre in Belmont. The schedule includes We Are Thomasse, who've played to full houses in London, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. The New York Times says "The married comedy duo of Nick Afka Thomas and Sarah Ann Masse combine his droll British wit and her joke-packed American energy in this clever, cross-cultural sketch show." Often likened to Elaine May and Mike Nichols, We Are Thomasse is a fast-paced, old-school comedy couple whose British-American humo(u)r relies on high concepts, charmingly absurd characters and clever wordplay. Seattle's sketch comedy team Villains also appears, and stand-up comedians Ellis Rodriguez (Kevin Hart's Hart of the City on Comedy Central), Josh Covitt (The Mindy Project and Grandfathered on FOX), David Roth, Jay P. Brown, Irene Tu and Nick Hoffman, among others. Proceeds go to Sonoma County Resilience Fund and Redwood Credit Union to help families recover and rebuild. If you'd like to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a child for the holidays, they will be collected for Toys for Kids.
