The Ferryman on Broadway, Directed by Sam Mendes

Buy Tickets $49 - $105 $69 - $169

New York Times critic Ben Brantley calls The Ferryman "fiercely gripping" and "the Broadway production of the year," while the Chicago Tribune dubs it "a sprawling, Shakespearean masterpiece." Written by Jez Butterworth and directed by Oscar and Tony Award-winner Sam Mendes, this “new, instant and monumental classic” (HuffPost) has been ranked on more Top 10 lists than any other show. It's 1981 in Northern Ireland, and the Carney farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest. A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year they'll be interrupted by a visitor. The Hollywood Reporter says, “This crackling thriller positively thrums with life and love. It will leave you breathless," and the stellar ensemble cast is set to include Brian d'Arcy James, Emily Bergl, Shuler Hensley, Fionnula Flanagan (through April 14th) and Blair Brown (beginning April 16th), among many more. Catch The Ferryman at Jacobs Theatre in New York City.

Buy Tickets $49 - $109 $69 - $169

Long before Carole King became a chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, a girl from Brooklyn. Beloved for penning such iconic pop classics as "You've Got a Friend" and "I Feel the Earth Move," she fought her way into the record business as a teenager and ultimately flourished, writing hits for some of the biggest acts in rock 'n' roll. But it wasn't until her personal life began to crack that she finally found her true voice. Beautiful is the inspiring true story of King's remarkable rise to stardom, from part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. It's no surprise that Beautiful -- The Carole King Musical won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album of 2015. See this unforgettable show at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York City.

The Phantom of the Opera: Broadway's Record-Setting Musical

When it comes to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic, the numbers are staggering -- as are the melodic score and inventive stagecraft, including a first-of-its kind falling chandelier. The Phantom of the Opera has won more than 50 major theater awards, including the Tony for Best Musical. It's the longest-running musical in the history of Broadway. At its core, though, this exciting tale of doomed romance has stood the test of time with its tragic love story featuring a mysterious masked man living beneath the majestic Paris Opera House who becomes obsessed with a beautiful opera singer. The soaring score features the memorable title tune, along with "Masquerade," "The Music of the Night" and "All I Ask of You," with a book based on the suspenseful French novel by Gaston Leroux. This visual and aural spectacular provides an unmatched live experience. See it now on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre.

Tosca: Love, Lust and Intrigue Take Center Stage at The Met Opera

Buy Tickets $30 - $98 $45 - $130

Puccini's fast-moving operatic thriller, Tosca, tells the passionate, yet tragic, tale of a celebrated diva. When her lover, an idealistic artist, gets tangled up in political troubles and is pursued by the corrupt chief of police, Floria Tosca prepares to do whatever it takes to save her beloved. This tragic romance ranks among the most popular operas ever, and the world's greatest divas aspire to take on this role. During the Met's October performances, Placido Domingo will conduct and charismatic sopranos Oksana Dyka and Angela Gheorghiu will rotate in the role of Puccini's eternal diva, Tosca, opposite tenor and champion of the Italian verismo style, Roberto Aronica as her lover, the artist and revolutionary Cavaradossi. Aronica performs one of the most beautiful arias in the operatic repertoire, "E lucevan le stelle," sung by the doomed Cavaradossi as he awaits execution. With its themes of political intrigue, sexual intimidation and hypocrisy in high places, Puccini's great masterpiece rings true today through its powerfully dramatic and gorgeous music.

This sophisticated 1938 musical broke new ground with its fizzy combo of comedy and snappy dance numbers by none other than George Balanchine, not to mention its heavenly score. I Married an Angel follows the adventures of a lovelorn banker, who's fed up with his girlfriend's shenanigans and wishes he could have an angel for a wife -- but when his celestial desire actually appears on earth, her innocence and inability to fib get him into all kinds of unexpected trouble. Balanchine's soon-to-be-wife Vera Zorina headlined the original production and in the same spirit, director-choreographer Joshua Bergasse's production features his wife, Sara Mearns, who's making her musical-theater debut at the New York City Center after her acclaimed 2017 performance in Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes.

A Raisin in the Sun: Groundbreaking Classic Still Packs a Punch

Buy Tickets $5 - $15 $15 - $30

The first Broadway play written by an African-American woman, A Raisin in the Sun is a masterpiece that The New York Times credits with changing American theater forever. First produced in 1959 and adapted two years later into a now-classic film starring Sidney Poitier, A Raisin in the Sun is as powerful today as it was 50 years ago. Now Harlem Repertory Theatre presents the limited return of this incredible story to their stage -- a story that follows the Youngers, an African-American family attempting to move from a crowded two-bedroom apartment into a "white" neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. But a new house is just one of the Youngers' many dreams. Three generations each yearn for different versions of a better life -- whether it's a business, or a spouse, or the right to live with long-denied dignity.

Gatsby in Paris: French Chansons & Jazz Standards From the '20s to the '40s, featuring enchanting French singer Chloé Perrier and her new band, the French Heart Jazz Band. This irrepressibly charming show is a mix of French chansons and American jazz standards from the '20s to the '40s with a continental flare. Chloé sings an intriguing mix of jazz, chanson, Brazilian and occasionally Romany-tinged numbers in French, as well as in English. The group is known for its reinvention of the old chestnut "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" as a bolero-tinged Twin Peaks theme, an obscure '20s hot jazz tune that Perrier had found in a history book, and the classic "La Vie en Rose." Come to Club Bonafide in New York City and listen as exes get dissed and relationships gone wrong are dissected and remembered through glasses that aren't exactly rose-colored.

But what's a chaotic series of mishaps for them makes for "the funniest play Broadway has ever seen" (Huffington Post) and proof that sometimes something's so wrong it's right. Broadway's most award-winningest comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong has racked up more laurels than Caesar, conquering stages from Paris to London to Broadway, and now it's returning to wreak hilarious havoc on New World Stages. VickiKristinaBarcelona is Rachelle Garniez, Amanda Homi and Terry Radigan, a power trio of seasoned music veterans dedicated to re-imagining the songs of Tom Waits via inventive three-part harmonies and a treasure trove of instruments including banjos, bottles, squeezebox, and zills. They create a world of sound at once powerful, playful and poignant.
Seasoned singers and songwriters, each a hybrid story-teller and multi-instrumentalist in her own right, join forces to salute the tragicomic lyrical genius of the Waits songbook. Picture the Triplets of Belleville disguised as Depression Era hobos riding the rails across America stopping to play dance parties and funerals along the road to nowhere.
Three distinct styles form a captivating original mix, greater than the sum of its' parts, never failing to amaze and delight audiences of all stripes. Collectively, they have worked with artists including Jack White, Jackson Browne, Jane Siberry, Patty Loveless, Dan Penn, Ray La Montaigne, Thomas Dolby, and Taylor Mac.

Barely keeping his head above water at home, a smart young student at an under-funded Newark public school finds non-ironic comfort in his Christian faith, and in a new friendship with the cantankerous lunch lady, who's facing her own issues. The Chicago Reader calls Chisa Hutchinson's new play "satisfying" and "uplifting," as ultimately, the unlikely pair manages to help one another navigate the choppy waters of growing up and growing old. Well-received in runs across the country, the Keen Company now brings Surely Goodness and Mercy to the New York stage at the Clurman on Theatre Row.

Biracial comedian Bill Posley grew up happily identifying as both black and white. But at age 10, he learned the world does, in fact, judge a book by its color and, even though he's half white, he's labeled 100% black. Does a young comedian have to get rid of his whiteness in order to be the color he's "supposed" to be? Hear Posley weigh in on the modern-day conversation about race from a unique perspective when he brings his show The Day I Became Black to New York City's Huron Club at the SoHo Playhouse..

India’s rich and complex past may be too daunting for Hollywood to tackle, but comedian and actor Kal Mansoor proves he’s up for the task with his new one-man show at Players Theatre. In A Brief History of Colonization, Mansoor gives a cultural crash course of India’s colonial past while also imagining what it would look like on the big screen under Tinseltown’s devices (ie. casting white actors like McConaughey, Walken and Affleck in leading roles). Blending together satire, history and personal experience, Mansoor’s piece is equal parts eye-opening and hysterical.

After a 15-year absence, Sylvain Émard is now back onstage, rediscovering himself as a dancer changed by the passage of time, as he ventures into a fascinating territory of experimentation. With Le chant des sirènes, he probes the states of being of a man who wants to believe that all is not lost. Holding high his hope like a subversive banner, he refuses to succumb to the glitter and sparkle of mirage. Against all odds he dances, a solitary maestro haunted by the sound and fury of the world he inhabits. Émard founded Sylvain Émard Danse in 1990. His choreographic works reveal a creator in full command of his talent, an artist who's won the admiration of audiences at home and abroad, and his repertoire of more than 30 unique pieces has been praised for its diversity. They say nice guys finish last. Josh Cohen is Exhibit A. Chronically unsuccessful in love, Josh comes home one day to find his apartment robbed of everything but a Neil Diamond CD. Now, though he may be broke and broken-hearted, this fixer-upper with a can-do attitude is determined to turn it all around in the new pop-rock musical The Other Josh Cohen. Backstage said it’s like “Seinfeld meets Rodgers and Hart,” while The New York Times called it “heartfelt” and “pure fun.” Come along with Josh as he tells (and sings) the tale of his romantic misadventures and family foibles, brought to life by a band of actors playing multiple roles and a score that will have you laughing and singing all the way back home from off-Broadway’s Westside Theatre.

Few things are more distinctly French than the music of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour. These and other Gallic icons are the focus of From Paris With Love, a musical homage to the City of Lights from the duo Yael & Gabriel. Yael Dray-Barel is a French-Israeli singer-songwriter influenced by rock and gypsy jazz, and her songs often incorporate the five languages she speaks. Argentinian guitarist Gabriel Hermida infuses his compositions with the essence of classical tango, flamenco and contemporary jazz. Together Taylor, aka the “Millennial Falcon,” and the slightly-older Scott, or “Gen-X Winger,” have created an epic songfest that celebrates all the magic, mayhem and fandom fun of Star Wars. But faster than Han Solo can make the Kessel run, their costar -- an actress and activist -- suddenly lets loose with a galaxy-shaking admission, threatening the very existence of A Musical About Star Wars. Toys team centers around deep themes including trust, safety, love, logic versus emotion, dream versus reality, and immortality versus murder. Re-envisioned by director Yuri Kordonsky, M is trapped in a nightmarish world full of bloodthirsty strangers – both human and canine. In this town, the desire to love becomes a desire to possess. In this town, “I want you” becomes “I want to eat you” and a lover quickly becomes prey... literally. Haunted by the demons of destruction (Gray), Younger Sister (Skovran) discovers new, unfamiliar feelings towards M in an exploration of the possibility of love amidst a cannibalistic dystopia.

Spring Awakening Creators Riff on Wonderland in New Musical

Buy Tickets $55 $115

When the madness of the world is too much to bear, we take refuge in the stories we love. Tony and Grammy Award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, reunite for their new musical, Alice by Heart, inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and directed and co-written by Jessie Nelson (waitress). In the rubble of the London blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This world premiere musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times. See it at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space in NYC.
